We seek to examine the wealth of literature published in the fields of computer graphics and medicine to compile a comprehensive survey of the different techniques developed both to model and to simulate human muscles. In particular, we will address physics-based and biomechanically-based solutions, as well as data-driven and skeleton-driven models. Finally, we will speculate on the future directions of research.
